Stephen Rea

Stephen Rea is a Senior Emergency Services Coordinator of the County of San Diego’s Office of Emergency Services, a position he has held since October 2005. The Office of Emergency Services is responsible for alerting and notifying appropriate agencies when the disaster strikes; coordinating all agencies that respond; ensuring resources are available and mobilized in times of disasters; and developing plans for response and recovery from disasters. Stephen was also the Information and Intelligence Chief of the Operational Area Emergency Operations Center during the 2007 Firestorm.

He joined the County after receiving a baccalaureate degree in Education from the University of Illinois.  His experience includes working as a full time professional fire fighter and as a technology training manager for Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, and Gateway computer firms.

Stephen, with the Information and Intelligence section, coordinates AlertSanDiego, the regions mass notification system, and WebEOC, the software application behind a disaster’s common operational picture. Stephen is one of only a few Certified WebEOC Administrators in the country and is the winner of ESi’s Boundless Collaborator award (2008) and ESi’s WebEOC Catalyst award (2007).
